Researcher

About the Thousand Brains Project:

The Thousand Brains Project is implementing the next generation of AI systems. We believe that to create human-like intelligence we need to take a close look at how the human neocortex works. The Thousand Brains Theory provides us with a solid foundation for our implementation of a generally intelligent system, and we are moving this project into the open source so we can build a community around it. Join our team and be part of building the next big thing in AI!

Your time will be split between understanding and reviewing neuroscience literature, further developing theory, architecting and designing the system, and implementing and testing the system. This is a full-time position. Working remotely is possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the research team to further our theory of intelligence.
  • Take insights from neuroscience and the Thousand Brains Theory and implement them in our open-source code base.
  • Test our implementation on a variety of sensorimotor tasks.
  • Communicate our progress to other researchers and the open source community.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years research experience in a neuroscience, artificial intelligence or related field.
  • At least 5 years experience writing high quality code in Python.
  • Previous contribution to open-source code bases or working on a (non-open-source) collaborative code base.
