The explosion in volume and velocity of data makes it impractical to archive and mine data—you need to analyze it and take action in real time. Grok has developed detailed models of human intelligence that will make this possible. We need audacious, unorthodox and inspired talent to execute our vision of understanding the world's data.
Discovering how the brain works is considered one of the great challenges of science. If you're looking for a real opportunity to change the world, join us.
We're a startup that feels like a family. The kitchen is stocked with caffeinated drinks and fruit, and we sit around the table and eat lunch together, chatting about topics ranging from brain theory to zombie apocalypse tips. Perks include a discretionary vacation policy, being in walking distance from the Redwood City Caltrain station, and challenging foosball competition.
Grok has the following opportunities:
IMPORTANT NOTE: Grok is unable to consider internship applications from international students unless they are currently enrolled in a US University, are US Citizens, or hold a Green Card.
A limited number of paid internship positions are available throughout the year. The commitment is for 3 to 6 months, full time. Grok's interns will get exposure to all aspects of CLA learning algorithms and our streaming analytics platform. We have internship positions in the following areas:
The core of Grok's business lies in a data-independent pattern recognition algorithm called the Cortical Learning Algorithm (CLA). This codebase is maintained by Grok as well as the open source NuPIC community on Github. We are constantly making improvements to the speed, accuracy, and functionality of our core algorithms, all with an eye towards supporting the mission of Intelligent Computing. This is a great place for potential candidates to learn about our core technology. Join the NuPIC mailing list to become a part of the community conversations and get involved right away. Candidates for this position should have a strong machine learning and software engineering background.
Our innovative real time streaming data prediction service runs locally and in the cloud, and includes both web and mobile applications. A developer API allows customers to integrate the service directly into their business.
There are many interesting problems related to data analytics, visualization, architecting web based API's, and running complex algorithms reliably and quickly. As a Software Engineering intern, you will be exposed to all of these exciting areas.
At Grok, we take testing seriously, and are running a continuous deployment process. As a Tools and Automation intern you will work on tooling and automation for our build, deployment, and testing processes. You will tackle challenging and interesting problems in delivering reliable, high quality software. If you have ever wondered what happens once the unit tests pass, this is the internship for you.
