Pictures Demonstration Program

This demonstration software, called Pictures, will give a sense of what Hierarchical Temporal Memory (HTM) can do. Both engineers and non-engineers are encouraged to explore HTM with it. It is easy to set up and doesn't require the Numenta Platform for Intelligent Computing (NuPIC) to be downloaded.

The demo has a Windows® front end which accesses the Numenta cluster in California to actually do inference, so you must be connected live to the internet in order to use the demo. Note that the demo is not a complete development environment - you need to download NuPIC itself to do development (NuPIC is available today on Windows, MacOS and Linux).

Please read the installation instructions below before downloading the demo. In addition, we recommend that you also read the file below that describes a series of suggested experiments with Pictures.

Pictures Demonstration Program
The Pictures Demo requires Windows XP or Windows VistaTM. It can be run by following these steps:

  1. Click the button below to download to your computer's hard drive a compressed WinZip file, PicDemoWin-1.0.zip.
  2. Double-click on this WinZip file to extract the files into a new folder on your hard drive.
  3. Within this folder you will find an executable program called RunPictures; double-click on this program to launch the Pictures Demo.

After agreeing to a simple license and reviewing a short introduction to the demo, you can begin drawing your own sketches and presenting them to a Pictures HTM in order to get a better sense of how the technology works.
